About Me

My name is Craig. I'm 29 years old and married with two sons. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance in 2006 and work in configuration management for the Space Shuttle solid rocket boosters.

My love of SR20's goes back to 1997 when I was first introduced to them by a friend. However, I owned a 300ZX first before I ever owned an SR20 powered car. I had the 300ZX for a while and mildly modified it, however, it got traded in for a 93 SE-R in 1998. The SE-R was very good to me. I wasted no time modifying it with aftermarket suspension, bolt-ons, and stereo equipment. In 1999, while working at the local Nissan dealership service department, I purchased a set of SE-L wheels for it brand new. After a while, I built a nice N/A engine for that car, complete with 10:1 pistons, a Gude ported and polished head w/ port-matched intake manifold, and a few other goodies. It gave me some great experience ripping the venerable SR20 apart and learning its ins and outs. That engine ran quite strong but 2,000 miles after the install, I ended up selling it for financial reasons. I regret it to this day because the person who bought the car missed a shift during a street race, over-revved the engine, and blew my pride and joy up 500 miles later.

I was without an SR20 for a few years and in 2002, I decided to purchase a 240SX with the plans of doing an SR20DET swap in it. It was going to be an all out build, from suspension to interior to paint to engine. I began doing a lot of preliminary work to it and before I knew it, my plans were going to have a hefty price tag. At that time though, my throttle foot was bigger than my wallet and I sold the car mid-project because I did not have the means to do it my way. I was not going to compromise just to get it done.

In 2003, after months of searching, I located the car that inspired this project. A Super Black 1999 Sentra SE Limited. A car that I dreamt of owning back in 1999 when I first saw it roll onto the showroom floor of the Nissan dealership. A car that I also dreamt of doing an SR20DET swap in at that very same time. I can say one thing for sure--good things come to those who wait. 6 years later, that dream came true. The SE-L is got the SR20DET, baby!!!!!!!
